I have done a lot of thinking and researching on this topic. I certainly try, and I stress the word try to be a Godly woman each and every day.
Every morning we wake up, we make a choice, Do I follow God? Or am I going to be disobedient? It is our choice to make every morning, every minute of the day.
1. She is at peace with herself and God.
2. She is committed to God’s headship order (1 Cor. 11:1-16)
3. She has a meek and quiet spirit.
4. She has a servant’s heart.
5. She does not call attention to her physical beauty.
6. She considers homemaking a high and noble call.
7. She is a joyful person.
8. She is a woman of prayer and devotion to God.
9. She has learned the secret of Isaiah 26:3
(Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.)
Godly women are not all about their own lives, but the lives of those around them whom they love and serve. They spend their lives unknown by the world in the narrow circle of their home within which they labor increasingly for God and others, but they will not lose their reward! God’s eye is upon them as they live out their lives in the orbit of His will amid all the cares, sorrows and trials of the home. One day their devotion will be commended by Him who sees and knows all.
It’s your choice today…. You can live out your life with the attitude that you are “just a woman”, or you can turn that perspective around and become “a just woman”. This is not a special category of uniquely gifted or inspired ladies. It is simply the woman whose heart is turned wholly toward God, the one who knows her own righteousness does not count. The Bible says the just shall live by faith… It’s the
circle of their home within which they labor increasingly for God and others, but they will not lose their reward! God’s eye is upon them as they live out their lives in the orbit of His will amid all the cares, sorrows and trials of the home. One day, when the books are opened, their devotion will be commended by Him who sees and knows all.
When God created the woman, he created her to be .a help meet for her husband. ( Genesis 2:18) We can do many good things, many meaningful things but we must do the FIRST things that God has called us to and that is to be a help meet and to love respect our husbands.
We notice that in Genesis 3 after Eve had sinned, God instituted the God Head order of the home.
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
1 Corinthians 11:13: But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
It seems today, that many women rebuke this God Head. They want to be “in charge”, wear the pants. We see this in many forms of advertising where the woman knows best and the man is portrayed as a simple minded simpleton. The woman is showing no respect for her husband at all.
Disrespect is rampant and can be found right inside our homes if we look carefully. This is very dangerous for the Christian woman because we must be careful to show respect in all areas, especially to those which we have been commanded. In Ephesians 5:33(However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.) we see that we are to respect our husbands.
How we respect our husbands is in direct correlation of how we worship God! If we do not respect our husbands, we are not obeying God and worshiping Him with our lives. Worship is a life lived out to glorify Him, not just singing on Sunday morning! We must make our husband a priority, he comes first after God. Not our children, not our agendas, not our friends, not our ministry, not our parents, not our pursuits, not our homeschooling. We must prioritize our husbands!
We build up our husbands by loving them and we do that primarily through respecting him. Yes, we can make his meals, do his laundry, etc. but if we do this with a disrespectful heart and attitude—it is pointless! Have you ever served your husband a meal and then hurtfully attacked him verbally? This is what I am talking about. We must turn our hearts toward our husbands and respect him.
A Godly Woman Always Seeks to be Modest in Her Dress. And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. KJV. (Proverbs 7:10)
Her clothing points to her instead of her Father in Heaven and His holiness. Remember the words of Paul in the New Testament? God emphasizes a beauty of the unseen character. The flesh flaunts the body, God beautifies the spirit. (In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
( 1 Timothy 2:9). KJV
A Godly Woman Always Seeks to be Holy in Her Conduct. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Prov 31:25 KJV
A godly woman fears the Lord. She seeks His will over the approval of anyone else on earth. Her fear of God makes her aware of the future consequence of her choices. A godly woman avoids any present situation that would be destructive for her future usefulness to God.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20,KJV)
A Godly Woman Always Seeks to be Truthful in Speech and Motives. With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it [would cost] his life. (Proverbs 7:21-23,NKJV)
This deceitful woman is an ugly woman because she is self-driven and wants her way. Her words and actions lead the man on a path to destruction. A beautiful woman wears heavenly beauty as God’s Word describes it.
A Godly Woman Seeks to be Gentle and Quiet. The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge. (Proverbs 9:13, NIV)
She is loud and defiant, her feet never stay at home (Proverbs 7:11 NIV)
This includes disrespect, hostility, aggressiveness and cunningness. All of these qualities are bad news.
And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. (2 Timothy 2:24, NIV)
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.(1 Peter 3:4, KJV)
Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward, arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel but rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. (1 Peter 3:1-7)
Moms and dads, what kind of woman are you raising? A wise woman or a foolish one? Does she dress in a way that draws a young man to think about her body and its enticements or her spirit and its beauty? Does she have a holy hatred of sin? Does she use her powers to get her own way? Does she manipulate by tears, looks and whatever it takes to accomplish her ends? Is she argumentative, easily quarreling and fighting with you or her brothers and sisters?
Or is she peaceable, gentle and easily entreated? If negative traits become ingrained in her character, the future could be at stake.
A Godly Woman Seeks to Care for the Home. She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands. (Proverbs 31:13, NKJV)
She is a worker at home (Titus 2:5.) To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. She loves to tangibly serve others with food and skills. She has a home that is open and hospitable and she is given to ministry to the sick and needy and less fortunate.
To sum it all up, a woman must be devoted to God, put her husband first. She must also be a keeper at home. There are plenty of ways to make money out of the house for those who need to help supplement the income. She must dress modestly, and not put a lot of emphasis on her outward beauty.
